Chapter 1

Dear Diary,
My name is Lilliana, I am 9 years old and me and my family have just arrived here in America. My mother and father have told me stories of this "New World" saying how amazing it is and that I will love it. We just got off the ship and my mother and father are discussing what we are going to do next. There are a lot of other people coming off the ship with us, it was very crowded on the ship. I hope we get to live in a big house where I can run around and play with my big brothers.
I didn't like our last house very much because it wasn't very big and my brothers and I had to share a bedroom. Father says he got a better job and we will be able to live in a big house and I get my own room! I'm also a little scared about this "New World". The thing I'm afraid of is what if my Fathers job isn't as good as he says it is and we live like we use to where we didn't have much food or money for clothes.  My father says that there was just a war here and a lot of people are still recovering from it. That must have been really scary for the people who lived here during it.
We just arrived at our new house and it’s so beautiful! It's perfect, there's a yard to play in and it's not super big but it's bigger than my old house that's for sure. I can tell I'm going to so happy here. There a big cities her but small markets surrounding the big cities. There are some railroads and my father said they would help America grow economically. My Mother said that there a lot of new technology that will help with hospitals and even for at home.
There a people in the military being sent all over the world right now. The Marines and the United States Navy are seeing action all over the world. I don’t know much about the Military my parents say that America has a really good one and we will be very safe here. I’m very glad that we will be safe because of those very brave men.
Well I better rap this Diary entry up we are about to have our first dinner in our new home. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for my family and I.
